“Children are one third of our population and all of our future.”



We believe that First Grade is a time for each child to grow and develop at their own rate.  A time for teachers to recognize the diverse potential within each child and maximize their academic success.

Throughout the year, your First Grader will learn to:

* solve problems through self reflection

* become life long learners

* be part of a caring community

* work to their highest potential in a supportive environment



Language Arts

*Guided reading groups with leveled texts

*Emphasis on a balanced literacy program including fiction and nonfiction text

*Phonemic awareness/phonics

*Writer’s workshop

*Bridges Math​

Through hands on activities, students will gain an understanding of:

*Physical Science - solids and liquids

*Life Science - living organisms  

*Earth Science - properties of Earth’s materials
